2024 King & Queen of the Central Coast

1st Place Margaret & Russ Hughes - Avoca 6W +54

Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club 2024 held their annual King & Queen of the Central Coast Carnival this weekend (21st & 22nd Sept 2024). As usual, it was a sensational carnival, played in great spirit in glorious sunshine.
This is a very popular event, which was 'sold out' a few weeks ago. Unfortunately two of the bigger CCB clubs subsequently carded their championships at the same time and a few of the early entries had to withdraw, so we had to scramble to get replacement teams. Many thanks to those teams/players that helped out (including the Redrups, Hughes, Ellisons & Ray Bourke). Many thanks to Steve Stead, Allan Rhodes, Lee, Simo, Kody, Sue, Paddy, Mick, Robin, Ron, Peter and others, for all their help in making this such a great carnival.
Many thanks to Creighton's Funerals for sponsoring this event and to Erin Harris of Creighton's Funerals for presenting the prize money.

The Winners were:
1st Place Margaret & Russ Hughes - Avoca 6W +54 .
2nd Place Lauren Ford & Glenn Simington - Umina 6W +44

Cheque Presentation to Central Coast Health Cancer Unit.

This afternoon (18/9/2024) Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club presented a cheque for $8,600 to the Central Coast Local Health District Prostate Cancer Unit. This was the funds raised at the UBMBC Ron Pursehouse Prostate Cancer Charity Day, which was held on Wednesday 19th June 2024.
In the first picture, we have (from L to R) Ian Jarratt (UBMBC Sponsorship Officer), Kimberley Dalton (CCH Cancer Nurse Coordinator), Kate Holloway (CCH Director Fundraising Partnerships), Colleen Tukavkin (Senior Fundraising Officer), Erin Harris (Creghtons Funerals - event sponsor) and Lee Cribbs (UBMBC President). Ian had just introduced the Ladies to the UBMBC members and gave a brief history about this important event.
In the second picture, Kimberley Dalton thanked the UBMBC members for their outstanding effort in raising the significant amount of money and gave a breif introduction to the possible equipment that CCH might buy with our donation.
In the third picture President Lee said a few words on behalf of the UBMBC members and thanked Ian Jarratt for his sensational work with this event, over a number of years.
The fourth picture is a great one of Ian Jarratt with Erin Harris of Creightons Funerals, who sponsored the event.

RU OK? Day Event.

UBMBC held their annual RU OK? event at the Club on Wednesday 11th September. The successful event was co-ordinated by Rex Hunt, with much appreciated help from Ron Austin, Robin Hill, Lee Cribbs, Glenn Simington and others....
Over 60 UBMBC members took part in the event, which was sponsored by Connect Hearing. Charlotte Lea from Connect Hearing conducted free hearing tests and presented the major raffle prize of a specialist headset, to winner Damien McPherson.
R U OK? is an Australian non-profit suicide prevention organisation, founded by advertiser Gavin Larkin in 2009. It revolves around the slogan "R U OK?" and advocates for people to have conversations with others. The organisation holds a dedicated R U OK?
As well as raising awareness of Men's mental health issues, the attendees raised about $1,200 for the RU OK? Charity and also had a lot of fun, as the following photos will attest to.
Many thanks to everyone involved in this very important day....
